I have watched several youtube videos of people claiming to show "Denial of Service" tools and techniques. I have seen enough to laugh. Everything from people still trying to ping you to death from a windows terminal to using LOIC or slowloris. Not to say that all the videos were bad but some were funny. Right off the bat let me explain something. If you are sending out thousands of packets, then you are going to get thousands of responses back. Some of these people who think they actually had a successful DDoS or DoS actually did it to themselves. The minute they cant ping anymore, or they cant load the site anymore, they think they did it when in reality, the website is still up, and these poor souls have an exhausted and overloaded router. For you poor souls out there reading this, use sites like isup.me or some other site with servers around the globe that can tell you if the site is reachable or not. Its that simple!
This tool allows you to put in your server of choice and the amount of seconds in between each check. The idea is, run your fuzzer or stress test tool, and run the sstat tool along side of it. If the site goes down, it will alert you with a nice RED prompt saying that the server is offline. It also out of courtesy does a timestamp which shows when the last check was made. The tool is not only for security people, but its also good for a server admin just wanting to keep an eye on his webserver. I plan on making some adjustments in the future such as logging and audio capability. There are websites out there that use a service to monitor your websites up and down time. You can do the same thing by just running this tool ;)
I made a new bitbucket account. I like it way better than github so expect me to be adding tools!
The tool will also be available from archAssault Linux (Thanks Guys!)
You can git clone it here: git clone https://R4v3N@bitbucket.org/R4v3N/sstat.sh.git
